Kentucky Derby

When and where in Kentucky is it? I've heard the buzz, but can't say I know much about the event other than it involves horse racing, big hats and gambling. Sounds like a good time, how was it last year? Anyone go?

It's in Louisville
It's always a GREAT time. And it's not just 1 day. It's a week long event.
With everything from thunder over the Ville. The balloon glow. The chow wagons. The steam boat race. The oaks race. The bed race. Tons of stuff goes on that week.

I really hope to make it this coming year. I wasn't able to make it this year, very disappointing.

The Derby is always a guaranteed good time.

I donno, I think it's over done. The taffic. The crowds. I'd rather go to a Derby Party. You actually get to SEE the race and enjoy friends without worrying about the weather. I won $250 last year on the race - not too bad for a local back-yard party.

Sounds like you have the right idea. $250 profit, not bad at all.

The Derby is a month long celebration with the greatest fireworks show starting it off. The week of Derby is a great time to be in town! I agree with cheezydemon3, worth seeing at least once! The Oaks (the day before Derby) is another great time to be at the track.

For those of us who have to live here, the traffic is awful. I'm not a horses fan, though.
