tonight i tried a bottle of a light beer i had bottled before thanksgiving. i made it using a light lme i got from midwest brewers supplies, 2 pounds of light dme, czech pellet hops for bittering, 1 ounce of czech hops the last few minutes and a oz of czech hops for dry hopping. it sit in the primary for a month! the mid west lme is 80% fermentable.

it had been in the bottles for 15 days. i put two in the frig 2 days ago for testing. i know it is still green but i just had to try it. the first bottle had a banana like taste to it. i liked it(i think i will try a bottle a week for the next month). it also had a pretty good kick to it. i believe it will be somewhat higher than normal abv.

i have another one than i used a few different things on that will be even higher than this one. i'm using directions i found in a book for it and it is calling for over 9% abv!!!! can't wait to try it out!!!!

FYI, myoldkentuckyhomebrew sells 2-row for $1.25 a pound, for those that were interested. Either way, supporting that local shop means that when you need something random in a pinch, he'll be there in the future. On top of that you can shoot the proverbial shiz about anything beer related and catch some good ideas.

A website would be nice. Liquor Barn doesn't make for a very good homebrew shop. I'm new to homebrewing, but it does seem like they have enough for emergency situations, though...

i'm low on yeast at the moment myself. if he has a website i'd pick some up from him. maybe a few other things as well if he sends stuff out by ups or fedex.
