That is the P.O.P. Pier.
It was between the Venice Pier and the Santa Monica Pier.
At that time the Santa Monica pier was a fishing pier with a breakwater marina and boat launch hoist with dory lockers on the pier. My Father kept a dory there when he was young and we spread his ashes a few miles off shore when he passed in 1997.
The Pacific Ocean Park Pier had a full amusement park similar to that of the present S/M Pier. It was shut down in the late sixties and burned to the water in the early seventies.

I remember POP well. Our last trip I believe was 1967, and after driving all the way down there, it began raining and they closed it for the day. That was our last time before shutting it down permanently.

Wow, I love these pictures! Keep them coming if anyone has more! I'd love to have a room full of these pictures on the wall, and maybe old street signs and stuff.

These pictures are great! I love old city pictures like these. It's amazing to think that LA, as we know it, isn't actually all that old.

Where did you get these pictures?
I'm a City Planner and I'd love to have all these pictures all over my office walls.
