los feliz restaurant

So, I'm leaving Los Feliz after 13 years, but wanted to share some places we've liked to hit for food that is in the area:

-Alcove Cafe/coffee shop (couple bucks over others, but you get what you pay for)
-Cheech's Pizza (best cheap pizza)
-Bird's
-Zankou Chicken
-Tangier Korean BBQ of Japan (good fun)
-Tubtim Siam (takeout only, dining there is boring)

and NOT Louisa's Trattoria (been a few times, never impressed)

James Beard award: Yuca's

Eat it on the hood of your car, washed down with the beer of your choice from the liquor store next door.

I lived in Los Feliz for a few years in the late 90s. I really miss it until I remember the parking situation.

Tub Tim Siam - great place
Yuca's - also nice
Mexico City - I still drive back for they're Mole'
Cheeches - I miss the salami pizza
Palermo's - great everything - pizza, pasta - also very kid freindly. I've never been there without at least two or three tables of LAPD having they're lunch there.
Figaro - great pastry

Yeah and the Palermo individual slices of pizza are pretty big. Well worth it.

That Zankou is great ... especially their garlic sauce, wrap some of that into their pita bread with some chicken and mmmmmmm

I like Figaro too, I used to eat breakfast there in the mornings. It was pretty inexpensive. They have a great decor.

LOS ANGELES -DO NOT EAT AT TANGIER KOREAN BARBEQUE OF TOKYO! The place is filthy. I used to work there so I know for a fact. They reuse all the garnishes from every customer's plate to put on other people's plates! They wipe their counters down with towels from the trashcan because they want to save a paper towel. The hygeine is terrible. AND They are refusing to pay me my training fee because I had to quit that wretched place because the conditions negatively impacted my health. Do not support these filthy crooks!
