Marengo cave is great and only about an hour away. I recommended a guided caving tour, one of the best experiences of my life.

I stop by Fry's electronics in Indy, best shop around. Also, Trader Joes, Jungle Jims and Ikea in Cincinnati

I don't know what is considered a day drive, but really Nashville is less than 3 hours. That is a day drive, right?

Bernheim Forest

I jump on to I-65 south from Louisville and drive 20 mins to the Bardstown, KY exit. I take the exit and turn left go another 5mins to the Bernheim Forest entrance, which is on the right. Then get lost for a few hours hiking the trails!

Mammoth Cave or red River Gorge, usually. Although we are planning a 4 wheeling trip soon.

+1 for the bourbon trail.

The bourbon trail offers a great look at scenic Kentucky, as will allow you to sample some of our delicious bourbon, and get a look at our fine distilleries.
