I'd like to say there was a good place to eat here in the Lewiston/Auburn area but I really can't. There are a few decent restaurants but for the most part this area is plagued by pizza joints, fast food and mom and pop operations. And the lastest craze is the chain restaurants that have popped up the last few years, *sigh*

The Porthole

Does anything compare to an early morning Guiness and omelette breakfast at the Porthole in Portland? I think not.

Crosby's diner on route 46 in Bucksport, Jordan's snack bar in Ellsworth, Pat's Pizza (in Orono the Original ... the others for some reason don't even compare) Nicky's diner on Union St in Bangor, (in the summer Tuesday is bike night and Wednesday is classic and custom cars) there are so many seafood places all over the state that are good I can't pick just one, but Jaspers in Ellsworth and the Trenton bridge lobster pound are two of my favorites

My favorite place to eat is in Wells, and is the Scoop Deck, they have absolutely amazing old-fashioned ice cream that come in gigantic cones and in a ton of flavors. Even my lactose-intolerant wife can't stay away from this place.

For pizza I like Pizza Joint on Forest Avenue, Sala Thai is good too. But Marcy's Diner on Free Street is the best for a hungover Sunday brunch.

Edit: Wait, I can't BELIEVE no one has mentioned THE GOVENOR's yet!

This IS Maine, right?
