Local Beer Tastings

Anyone have any info on smaller local type beer tastings. Homebrew, or smaller local brewers, or package stores hosting tastings.

The "Grill Next Door" in I believe Haverhill, MA has around 30 beers on tap and they rotate. Many local tastes as well as nation wide brews. They do have some imports also.

Well, if you're in Boston you can always take the free Samuel Adams tour in Boston's JP neighborhood. They do tastings at the end. Lots of great nearby places to hang afterwards too.

The Yankee Brew News does a good job of listing upcoming tastings and events. The paper version is available in a lot of the pubs/brew houses around here. They have a decent website and an e-newsletter too. For Massachusetts this is what they have listed for the next month:
  • December 18 - Stone tap takeover at British Beer in Framingham
    - Featuring the first cask of Stone's double dry hopped Sublimely Self Righteous Ale. For more info call 508-888-6610 or visit The British Beer Company Restaurant and Pub.
  • December 29 - Dogfish Head Night at Redbones in Somerville
    - Over a dozen Dogfish Head drafts plus a special cask. For more info call 617-628-2200 or visit Redbones BBQ.
  • December 31 - Barrington Brewery New Years Party at Crissey Farm Banquet Hall in Barrington
    - Taste some solar-powered beer while you ring in the new year. For more info call 413-528-8282 or visit Barrington Brewery and Restaurant.
  • January 14,15 - Beer Summit Winter Jubilee at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston
    - Plenty of Winter Beers and Strong Beers to chase away that New England chill. For more info visit Beer Summit, Beer Music & Fun.

MacKinnon's in Sudbury, MA, hosts wine and beer tastings.
Also, you may already know this, but beeradvocate.com has listings, but maybe not the smaller ones you are talking about

Dont know If they do tastings, but if you ever are on Cape Cod, you have to get down to Cape Cod Beer, a local brew company that sprouted up a few years ago and keep growing, they have some amazing beers. Definitely in the summer time you have to try the seasonal, "beach blone ale", my favorite summertime brew.
