If I had only one reason to visit Meeeeeechigan I would say it has to be to travel Scenic Route 119 (known as the tunnel of trees) during the Fall. It runs along the Lake MI shoreline from Harbor Springs up to Cross Village where the famous LEGS INN is located. Words cannot explain this drive or the Legs Inn but you can see it here, Legs Inn - Cross Village, Michigan

If you are into fishing we have the best fresh water fishery in the world. From standard lake fare such as bass, northern pike, pan fish, and walleye to trout and salmon. Several streams on west side of our state host the best salmon run outside of Alaska. The fishing here is truly awesome!

Golf courses: 2nd only to florida on per-capita courses. A lot of "good walks spoiled."

Michigan is home to some of the best breweries and wineries in the world.

St. Julians, Bells, Founders...

Nuff' said.

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is a great reason to visit Michigan. While not exactly on the way from one state to another (unless you are going to Northern Wisconsin), it is a fantastic stopover. Not too many places in the world that you can go where cars are banned, so it's definitely a cool place to visit. Not to mention the fudge and the Grand Hotel with the longest porch in the world (or at least it was when I was 8 years old and visited).
