Always been fond of the lakes around Alexandria, deep and clean (minus the zebra mussels of course).

Canada LOL. Seriously though, there are some killer trout streams along the north shore and gunflint trail worth checking out. Definately a two-fer. Spectacular scenery and killer fishing. Mink lake and the Temperance river are two worh checking on...

Lake Vermillion has a new park on it. Great for walleyes and the muskies are getting huge.

Big Sandy is a fine lake, usually fish one of the connecting lakes and have always had good luck.

Another hot spot would be Knife Lake north of Mora, mn. Really great bass on that lake.

The Nisswa area used to be great, but it is too busy for me in the summer now. Grand Rapids (Spider Lake) here I come.

The St. Croix river on the MN/WI border has a ton of species and plenty of walleyes. It's clost to Mpls too if you feel like having a little civilization at hand.
