To Winter

I get the coats and other gear out. I hit ski swaps to make sure my boy's skis and boots fit. I put the snow tires on the cars. I do the yard work and ponder having the gutters cleaned (although I never do it...), I get the throws for the air gaps at the bottom of the doors out. I fire up the snow blower to see if it works and collapse the handle on the lawnmower so it stows away. I put scrapers in each car and put the salt bucket on the front porch. I pay the fee to the guy who plows our alley. I make sure my shovel isn't broken. That's about it.

Put the summer toys away and bring the winter ones out. There's no reason not to have fun all year round.

I agree with getting the snow blower out and ready. You don't want to wait until the first big storm to find out that it won't run. That is when everyone else has theirs in the shop and it takes a week or more to get it fixed (unless you like to shovel)!

We put hay on the drain field, then tarp it. To keep it from freezing.

Winterize the boat, get the four wheeler prepped to plow, put away path lighting, check expiration dates on stuff in the emergency winter duffle. And most importantly, make sure the ice auger is running!

Winterize all the engines that won't be running for a while. Lawn mowers, cycles, weed eaters, etc.
