Went here on a trip years back. Great historic area. I suggest visiting it to anyone passing through or traveling in the area.

Hi Terry,
I couldn't agree more. I'm from Jackson and the park is one of my favorite road trips. Be sure to stop in at the Cairo Museum while you are there. That alone is worth the trip!

I live about 30 minutes from Vicksburg and have yet to visit the park. Is there a certain day of the week to go where there might be less people thus a better experience?

Not really; just pick a clear day when it isn't too hot and go check it out

Yeah, just go when it is comfortable out. Make it a day trip, not just to tour the park, but there is a lot of other historic stuff as well if you like the civil war and such.
