So then what's the solution? We can't supplement the dieing middle class, all those jobs are now overseas.
I'm not a fan of state welfare, hence the Universal service, but if we don't do something, and soon, poverty is going to drag us down.
First, let me qualify something: what state legislatures decide to do is fine with me provided whatever they do doesn't step on their respective state constitutions.
My beef is that the Federal government does anything at all along these lines. It is well out of its legal charter to provide hand-outs of any sort.
Rather than have wealth-redistribution programs to help more Americans pay for school, how about we look at the reasons the cost of doing business overseas is so much more appealing to some businesses? It might interest some to learn the U.S. has the highest corporate tax burden in the world. Maybe making the U.S. more business-friendly would go a good ways to keeping (or adding!) jobs for Americans.
So if you had a choice, you'd rather America be socialist over "corporatist?" That's a pretty powerful statement.
I abhor any individual, group, cartel, ideology, religion or movement that seeks to impose its will through the threat of violent force or financial (or other) coercion, whether we're talking about cartels of banks or corporations, or political movements designed to elevate society and its needs as a collective above the rights of the individual.
Never did I say or imply socialism was preferable to corporatism.

Thanks for the info. That's surprising, and disappointing all at the same time. I can't say that it surprises me out of this administration, though. We'll wait and see if he actually does anything, but I won't hold my breath!
China isn't even on that list?

We are now living the result of affirmative action, 4-5 decades of it. The so-called educated, the military, the ruling class, the sheeple. Independent thought is dead. You get what you deserve.
