Somehow 60 Minutes missed, or edited out this Paul Ryan comment:
Quote:
?My mom is a Medicare senior in Florida. Our point is we need to preserve their benefits, because government made promises to them that they?ve organized their retirements around. In order to make sure we can do that, you must reform it for those of us who are younger. And we think these reforms are good reforms. That have bipartisan origins. They started from the Clinton commission in the late ?90s.?
Those who feel entitled to entitlements care little that the whole system will fail if Obama keeps borrowing.
we have covered this, the rate of increases with obama are less then your pal George bush (and he was in a surplus time when we should be cutting back)
and we wouldn't be borrowing if we didn't do the bush tax breaks that the republicans fought tooth and nail to keep leading to even more debt.
The answer from the right on the correct tax rate for the rich: "lower" - they will push it until america collapses.

Bush is not my pal, Obama is borrowing 41 cents on the dollar and taxing the rich cannot resolve the current debt. Obama only plans to cut the deficit, though he says debt in the ad.

Obama is borrowing it? it is rhetoric like that that reduces this conversation to trash, congress on both sides play the bigger role in the budget, Obama has little to do with it, and he inherited a budget that was way out of control, and you want him to cut back in the middle of a recovery from a recession, I suggest you look back at your economics textbook.

My economics textbook didn't suggest spending 1.69 times revenue as a means for recovery. How long will it take to spend our way out of the debt?

I shouldn't keep wasting our time trying to get through to you but when recovering from a recession jobs necessary for a recovery are more important than reducing deficits, if anything needs done we need to tax the rich, taxing the "poor" who make under 50k per year will just make things worse economically speaking

You mean like the wasted stimulus that helped only public sector jobs at best?

you mean the one that spurred the greatest job growth in 30 years..... yes it was too small to correct the problem the bush republicans put us in, you are correct there. Yes obama didn't fully take into account how bad it was in some speeches but getting a bigger stimulus through asn't going to happen so we just got a mini stimulus when we needed a big one
