Here we are at the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade and some 55 million babies have been aborted. The NY Times had this to say (in part) in its Jan 24, 1973 editorial, ?The Courts seven-to-two ruling could bring to an end the emotional and divisive public argument over what always should have been an intensely private and personal matter. It will end the argument if those who are now inveighing against the decision as a threat to civilization?s survival will pause long enough to recognize the limits of what the Court has done.?
Interestingly it has ended nothing and we who are pro-life are gaining ground though it be ever so slowly. It may not seem so with the re-election of a president even more pro-abortion than Clinton but with medical advances no one can now deny that the pre-born baby is indeed a human life.
The NY Times was dead wrong on one statement, ? . . . a woman?s right to obtain an abortion in its first three months of pregnancy", or maybe it believed at the time that only the first trimester was at issue. Who would have believed at that time the grisly tactics of an abortionist such as Kermit Gosnell!
Classic republican. They want to control every aspect of ones life. Abortion is or should be a womans right. Even if it ever became illegal, women are still going to get abortions just like people smoke drugs and people get guns illegally. The truth is, not everyone is religious, nor do they think the same. It's quite simple really. You don't want to have an abortion? FINE!!!! don't have one. But don't place your beliefs on everyone else, and control our lives because of some friggin religious bs. Allow people to do what they want, so long as it doesn't infringe on another persons rights. People should be able to be gay, have abortions or own guns. Why is it that republicans are so pro life, unless it comes to helping out poor nations, or staying out of wars like that of Iraq or what have you? May Obama, uphold the law of the land and preserve a womans rights, as the people have spoken and voted. THANK god

55 million over the past years, I think it's safe to say that they will continue even if it became illegal. For the womans health, and to keep freedom alive in this country, we need to emrace the concept of a woman being able to choose. We also need to finally embrace gay marriage in this country, and put the christian community in it's place once and for all. The fact is, that allowing gay marriage at the federal level, and it is coming too, I might add, would help possibly curb unwanted pregnancies and allow an additional outlet for addoptions as well.
