Buyer beware economy. If you treat something as truth, you should do your own research other wise the truth is meaningless.

The "truth" is subjective and rarely shared by people of opposing view points. It's the responsibility of the watcher to determine what is correct.
If we pass legislation mandating truth, it is a direct violation to our right to free speech.
Voltaire has two good quotes here.
"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices."
We give them the power. It is our responsibility both as Americans and consumers to fix this. Not the Government.
"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
and there in lies the double edged sword which is our freedom of speech.
