Attractions around Hay Springs

I have to go to Hay Springs next month and will be there with family for a week. Is there anything to do in the immediate area around there?

Not really. I used to deer hunt around there, but a little early unless you bow hunt. I think North Platte or McCook are you closest big towns. Red Willow resevior isn't to bad for fishing.

North Platte and McCook are pretty far south from Hay Springs.
Chadron is probably the closest city of size.
Chadron State Park and Pine Ridge National Recreation Area are a couple spots in the area.
Wish I had more info, but I am from Eastern Nebraska and haven't been out there since I was five.

Mammoth is right, I was thinking Hayes Center. I think Hay Springs is a better place to visit than Hayes Center anyway! Both about the same size. I used to deer hunt all around Hayes Center. I think there is more history around Hay Springs. Chadron State Park is pretty cool!

Go north a little ways and you get to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. A little East and North of that and you get to Wounded Knee Memorial. Pine Ridge is not much to really see, more a "spot" in the road, but then there are the casinos close to there, as well as the historic site of Wounded Knee. In Hay Springs itself?? Not much....

South of Hay Springs is Alliance, home of Carhenge as well as a couple museums.
Chadron to the west is the home of Chadron State Park, and Chadron State College. If you hunt, the park is a nice place to go.
What in the world are you going to Hay Springs for?
