Please tell me the good and the bad about Carson City

I lived there many years ago and am thinking about moving back. It was so long ago that I'd appreciate some updates on what it's like now.

Thanks

I have lived here most of my life. Carson I would say has become worse, primarily because of the economy. Depending on how long you have been away when you get back you will notice that there has been a lot of small business shut down. Where there has been a few large stores open up. Of course the cops cant do any thing about the gang and drug problem we have. They are tearing up a lot of the side roads for "economic stimulation" and the freeway still isn't completed.

I moved away in 1993. I had no idea about the gang problem. Is crime an issue now as well? We're in our sixties and could make easy targets.

Can anyone tell me more about Carson City? The gang thing never occurred to me. We are leaving Sacramento, CA and crime/gangs are one of the reasons we're leaving. We don't want to go from one problem area to another.

More and more people are moving out to Dayton.. so that could be an option. I dont think that the gang issue is a huge issue yet, IMO..

The gangs have moved to Dayton as well. The problem is there is family's moving here to get there kids away from the problem, when it is there kids that are the problem.

And now here is my rant enjoy;

Parents don't like to admit that it isn't were they live that is causing there kids to be in gangs. It is there loose parenting that turns there kids bad. When they move here they are bringing the problem with them. The solution is to become more like the parents of the 30's and 40's. Kids were scared to death to be bad so they focused there energy more on school and sports. Which created the greatest American generation. Which in turn they didn't like the way there parents raised them so they loosened up and created the worst generation ever that is still destroying our country the 60's hippies. My mother is a hippie and I love there current mentality however, the 60's hippies started our current economic and socialist collapse. YES most people that live in this area agree with me.

Yup, I agree, most parents don't parent anymore.

There are few good places to eat out in Carson City. Unemployment is high, if that's an issue. Plus side, relatively quiet and peaceful.

It turns out that my wife dislikes Carson City. She didn't tell me because she didn't want to hurt my feelings. So, we won't be moving there. It looks like Grants Pass, OR is still our top choice.
