Go in the fall, and go anywhere. The entire state will have the most gorgeous foliage you have ever seen. If you've never seen NH in the autumn, you havent seen what Fall colors really are.

Most gorgeous leaves ever. Or read the pumpkin fest post in this section as well!

Visit Salem N.H, home of Granite State potato chips, and the American Stonehenge.

The mountains are great, but I also love the lakes region, Lake Winnipesaukee is a favorite. Also Lake Ossipee is smaller and good for camping as well.
The seacoast is also a nice place to vacation. Porstmouth has some decent restaurants and places where local bands play. (The Music Hall)
Of course there's always "Strawberry Bank" to visit as well.
There's the Robert Frost house to visit in the Derry area:

No sales tax!

If you're not shopping, I recommend checking out the White Mountains for some great hiking. And drive up Mount Washington! That's an experience!

x2 on this, people love the no sales tax when they come up here, and they are amazed at how much they save.

So MUCH to do in NH!

What Season?

Winter:
Snowmobiling (trails stretch from Mass to Canada)
Ice Fishing
Cross Country Skiing
Downhill Skiing: Waterville Valley (where Olympic hopefuls train), Attitash, Loon, Mt. Sunapee...

Spring:
visit a sugar shack where they make Maple Syrup!
Laconia Motorcylce Week
Visit "Moose Alley" to see some Moose

Summer:
Watch a NASCAR Race @ New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon (buy tickets way in advance!)
Drive to the top of the highest peak in the North East: Mount Washington @ 6,288 ft (home of the world's worst weather)
Take the historic Cog Railway to the top of Mt Washington
Lots of outdoor recreation things to do in White Mountains
Take the ski lift to the top of any ski mountain for 360 deg views
Visti the seacoast: beaches/swimming, seafood, whale watching, boat tours
Hobo Railroad in Laconia
Mt. Washington boat tour of Lake Winnipesaukee
Boating on Winnipesaukee
County fairs

Fall:
Drive anywhere in NH for the fall foliage (especially the Kancamangus)
Fall Foliage Festivals
Bring a pumpkin to the Keene Pumpkin Festival and help them break the world record for the most pumpkins (again!). Last year they had just shy of 30,000 pumpkins!!!

Any Season:
There are fifty-four historic wooden covered bridges currently standing in NH

And so much more! :-D
