For starters, My fav bar in asbury is either the Brickwall or the Annex. BrickWall has awesome food and a great beer selection.
I don't get down to Asbury Park that often. Only 2 or 3 times a year. Usually only for bands. I was just at the Stone Pony the other night and was surprised at how much the area seems to have been cleaned up. I've been to The Wonderbar and Asbury Lanes for a few shows, with the bowling alley being a cool place to have a band play, definitely felt the least safe in the neighborhood.
I just have to say I love how every time you visit Asbury there is a new restaurant or bar popping up. I lived there for a year (2005) and just to see how far along its come since then its remarkable.
AP is definitely one of the most up and coming town in the state!
In terms of restaurants Bistro Ole is by FAR my favorite!
I was there for the first time in years this past October 30, for a concert at the Paramount Theater (The Australian Pink Floyd--amazing!) I was pleasantly surprised with the renewal that has taken place since I was last there in September 2002! We enjoyed walking on the boardwalk in the evening before the concert, and we stayed overnight in Spring Lake and walked the boards again on Saturday. We got to witness the zombie walk.
