Working and Living at the Beaches of South Jersey

Hey everybody. Nice place you have here.
I'm just checkin in from the shore in South Jersey. It's August and we're right between Hurricane Danielle, just passed, and Hurricane Earl, on his way up the coast now.
Danielle just stirred the water up a bit but Earl could be trouble.
We'll know more in about 2 days. It may be a mad scramble to pull our boats and hunker down or even bug out.
I'll keep you posted...

Well, Earl is just off Hatteras and is expected to stay offshore from us here in South Jersey. A lot of people pulled their boats out anyway, including me. I'll let this storm slip by Friday night and dump her back in Saturday. If all goes according to plan the storm should be gone by then.
I'll update tomorrow afternoon, the track near me should be set by then.

Hurricane Earl eased on by us today with light winds and scattered showers. At 5pm the sun is back out and the winds are light offshore making for some beautiful high surf. Boat will go back in tomorrow morning but for now I'm off to catch a few of those big waves before sunset. Surfers pop out of the woodwork after a storm so I'll probably see the usual weekend crowds out there. All for now....

I remember those days of not knowing what the storm was going to do that was heading our way. Weather down there has a mind of it's own. I sure do miss those days.

I heard that. As these big storms make their way up the East Coast our pucker factor climbs accordingly,

It's been a long time since we got really spanked though, we're overdue....

You and me both! Stone Harbor is one of the more pricey Barrier Islands, along with Avalon and of course, Longport. Longport is at the southern tip of Absecon Island. The other end of Absecon Island, 14 miles north, is a little hamlet called Atlantic City.

We have been visiting New Jersey every summer (we live in Michigan) for the last 3 years and we love Stone Harbor. The "ungaurded" beach there is our favorite because there is nobody there. And they have the coolest shells. We wanted to come back after the hurricane to go shelling again, but aint able to make it.

Yeah Stone Harbor is a real nice place to go. I lived on LBI for a while and loved every minute of it.

What's better/difference, Stone Harbor or Avalone? I priced realestate and SH seems more expensive.
