I know New Orleans has more restaurants than one can imagine. Fortunately, this makes it hard to be disappointed when it comes to dining, but also makes it hard to pick where to dine. Mayeb this article will be helpful
Acme Oyster House - you gotta try the char broiled oysters(I know oysters sound nasty but you gotta try um
Cafe Du Monde - beignets!
Tropical Isle - Best drink in New Orleans "Hand Grenade"
I hear Drago's has great food as well and great char broiled oysters but I didn't get a chance to try them
Port of Call - This place has awesome burgers. I know what you are thinking but you will eventually get tired of the local cuisine and need some quality american beef
The Joint - a great BBQ joint that has been highlighted on Food Networks Diners Drive-ins and Dives
Thats my short list, if you get a chance to try alligator I recommend it blackened (cajun spices)
I've heard Mother's is one of the best places to go, but have not gotten the opportunity to eat there due to the line being wrapped around the building every time I've tried to go. I believe it is on Canal.

I believe it is on Poydras, near the Hilton Hotel by the river, behind the rivergate convention center casino.
I believe that Russell's Poboys has the best poboys, they are on Transcontinental @ Airline Hwy. Cant go wrong and the line is not nearly as long as Mother's. Mother's is all name to me but people do like it.
Oh God, this is gonna get crazy. I'll try to throw out some lesser known names.
