sunset park view of manhattan
i enjoyed your video giving us a night view of manhattan and the harbor. did you know that your vantage point in the park was created about 14,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age? a glacier moving down from north began melting as it reached today's sunset park....the front end (the terminal moraine) was a pile of rocks and debris pushed along on the glacier's journey. It remained behind creating Brooklyn's highest points. the melting ice cascaded off of the glacier and eroded the rest of brooklyn into the flat profile it now has - giving rise (pun intended) to neighborhood names like Flatbush and Flatlands. The terminal moraine gave us the names Bay Ridge, Park Slope and Ridgewood.
