Severe storm, tornados in New York City

Wow, those are some fantastic videos. Don't really see the classic funnel shape to the tornado though -- is that a mid-west, open spaces phenomenon?

I live on the top floor in Manhattan, and I've seen storms as bad as those depicted, but never thought they were tornados.
