Trans-Hudson Tunnel Project Burried

Schumer: Decision To Bury Trans-Hudson Tunnel Project "Shortsighted" - NY1.com

Currently the NJ Transit and Amtrak trains have to share a single line at one point entering Penn Station, limiting the amount of trains coming into the station. Anyone have any opinions about the future of this project which was running over budget by millions and the affect of its cancellation on commuting into the city?

as a resident of Manhattan - ANYTHING that can be done to ease congestion and travel into and out of the city on a daily basis would be AWESOMELY appreciated. obviously - any project running over budget by millions MUST be re-evalutated...and management usually needs to be replaced.

unfortunately - like MANY things/projects in the NYC area - corruption and budgetary waste is a HUGE and MASSIVE problem here. i wouldn't doubt that one or both of these are an issue with this project...but also believe that it is a good & sound idea...and a necessary one. any problemed project CAN be righted...but sometimes DRASTIC measures are required...as well as "outside the box" thinking...and firm action.

i do hope this can someday be righted and put back on track. it would be a great help to the people living and working in NYC.
