I also wanted to mention, for those in the area, in portchester, there is a beer distributor with an amazing selection. They have everything i could imagine

There is also The Gilded Otter in New Paltz and Hyde Park Brewing in Hyde Park, NY. I've never been to Hyde Park, but the Otter was pretty decent.

Captain Lawrence has awesome quality beer...it's a shame that their hours are so limited.
Defiant has an enormous bar, cool atmosphere full of really nice people, and now serves BBQ on the weekends.

Captain Lawerence does tours on Saturdays. The tour is interesting but you really go there for the sampling.

I second the reco for Defiant- good beer and they have recently added BBQ to their menu. They are often brewing behind the bar and the place is low key with some good beers. It is across the tracks from the train station in Pearl River.
