Due to recent oil boom housing is hard to find and has become expensive.
this is true. its the same way in bismark though. i went ahead and bought a house. i am pretty sure that in the next few years things will still be going up, so i wanted to get on that gravy train asap. how long have you been in minot?

wow, a true native! i must say. i really do like it here. if i can ask (because i have'nt really noticed it as bad anywhere else), it seems that alot of the locals don't really like the 'basers'. what happened?

I don't think it's they "don't like the basers". It's more really conservative people that take time to get to know new people. Emotions are really kept in check with the NoDaks and given the time and chance deep and loyal friendships can be developed. The town is really going through changes recently with the oil industry attracting quite a diverse variety of backgrounds. I'm excited to see what the future brings to Minot.

I think I'm getting a fairly firm handle on the town's atmosphere from all you have said.
I do like to fish, a lot. hunting isn't really my fortay.
