Randum - Methinks I recognize your setup from the Muddy River Mashers site.

A little further North in Grand Forks, we have Aurora Breweralis. Not a huge club, but it meets every month at Happy Harry's.

Hey GNBrews, do you meet on the same day every month? We should get that info on ndbrewers.com for the Aurora Breweralis.

It really depends on what you want to do. A person can start off with brew kits relatively cheaply. As long as you've got a stove, a big boil kettle, and a fermentation bucket, it can all be done with some ingenuity.

Midwest Supplies has a nice list of what they include in their starter kit here, and it's under $60: Midwest Supplies - Brewing Basics Equipment Kit Midwest Supplies

But, if you have a local supply shop near you, I'd try that first. Prices are usually comparable and it's nice to be able to ask questions.

I personally like to buy from Wheels Wings N Hobbies in Mandan. The owner, Jeff, has been brewing kits for years and started do all-grain this past year.

Minot has a small home brew shop also. Backyard Brewing Supply carries a few specialty grains, equipment, and some no brainer kits. The guy there has enough knowledge and merchandise to get someone started in the hobby. Another online source is Northern Brewer in St. Paul
