I have no idea what i'm getting my family. stumbled upon this article this morning. the kindle seems to be topping most lists.

so christmas was going to look pretty slim for my wife and i this year. we took a trip to the PNW for thanksgiving, besides the fact that we buy 8k in plane tickets every year to see each other (she goes to school in arkansas). well a check for the extra left over in my escrow acct showed up yesterday to the tune of 300 bones! i hate being broke lol

I always hate to give gift cards because I would rather find a person present, but I like to receive them so I can buy the stuff that I love that people don't think to buy me for a present.

Before I'd give anyone a gift card I'd just give them the cash, I hate gift cards.

Nah, gift cards are fine AS LONG AS THEY'RE FOR SOME PLACE YOU WANT TO SHOP. I have absolutely ZERO problem with folks giving me gift cards for Best Buy, REI, Amazon, soccer.com or the local brew shops. But last year my mother in law had some weird notion that I wear clothes from "Big Dogs" so she got me a gift card from there. WTF?!?! (Apparently she saw some t-shirt with a dog drinking a beer, and because I brew she thought I'd LOVE it.)

Lucky you, mine got thrown out long ago. You should dig them out and force your kids to play with you like I'm sure they did to you. Be overly excited.

I get suck buying people presents I don't know. I've never met them, or have met them twuice, we haven't talked, I know nothing of them. Gift Cards it is.

Me too, but the wife says it's tacky. I would be psyched to get cash, instead I'm getting sweat pants or scented candles, neither of which I use. Sometimes I get picture frames, it makes me think if any of the gift givers have ever met a guy.
