Haha let me know when you're having a garage sale XID. Albany is not too far from my sister's place in MA.
When I was about 15 or 16, I worked for a land care guy. Bill Henderson. Ex merchant marine. Great guy. Every Tuesday at lunch we'd go to the Green Hornet tavern for beer, pool and pickled eggs
Anyways, on the side he had a service where he'd clean out people's basements. For free. Some of the stuff he'd pull out of people's houses was amazing. Antiques, first editions, jewlery, all kinds of stuff. Also, when driving between jobs, anytime there was anything even remotely worth salvaging in someon's garbage, he'd stop and make us haul it into the back of his truck.
He also owned an old farmhouse (ca. 1850's) out in the country with a huge barn. He stashed all the stuff he got for free in that barn. It was jam packed with a mixture of junk and treasures and every year he would have "Henderson's World Famous Garage Sale". It was quite the event. He made thousands and thousand of dollars above and beyond the land care business on what others considered trash.
It was one of the most fun jobs I ever had, and I miss the old guy. To a certain extent, he helped shape my life and my appreciation for things most people find useless.
