I've always loved art nouveau. If that's graffiti then all city's need more graffiti. What do you know about this? That's a really great piece of art.

I'm torn on that. I think free walls are a great way of beautifying a city when done properly.

It was recently finished by a group of grafitti artists here in a section of Montreal called Notre Dame de Grace (NDG for short) which is plagued by a lot of tagging.

It's an attempt by serious graffiti artists to teach delinquent teens the difference between legitimate graffiti and vandalism.

I like it.

I too like it when someone's able to pull positive out of a negative. Where is the seperation line between "grafitti artists" work and a mural art piece?

I think that line is dictated by everyone's personal taste. Usually if it's done under cover of the night by a bunch of crack heads, it isn't to my taste, but I'd rather look at this than a crumbling brick wall

The basic question, In my opinion, is this a matter of art, which is subjective, or territorial tagging by gangs. Think I would rather deal with the issue of "art" over tagging. Very nice work in Montreal. A graffiti artist can be an artist.

That's the difference. Tagging is to claim property, graffiti is self expression.

I'm not saying it's welcome by any means but I would rather see the mural than the crumbling brick as Rip said.

I understand that but even if the brick wasn't crumbling I would rather see a mural than plain brick.

Agreed. I think like most things it should be left to the discretion of the business whose wall it it.
