The Inn I managed in PA dated back to the French & Indian Wars. There were the remains of a structure behind the Inn right on the stream bank. We were told by former owners the structure had been what's called a "Summer kitchen".
SE PA is a hot humid place to be cooking and baking for an Inn full of people so this made a ton of sense. I'm guessing if one can bake a pizza one could also bake bread & other goods.
Even then this seems like an expensive way to get pizzas but then I'm paying $5 for a large pepperoni 150 yards from my apartment.
