It seems as though there are only about 6 or 8 regular contributors to this site, and many of their postings are in the political arena, and designed to incite, unless you happen to believe in their ideology. Without intending to upset anyone, it just seems that folks here are unfriendly. I seem to notice visitors come and go, but generally, it comes down to just 6 or so members on here. Compared to sites like citydata.com this forum just appears to be lacking in almost every regard. I'm just trying to figure out why sites like citydata are boiling with activity, while this site seems to be really slow? I looked at my state forum and there hasen't been a single post for months, and the nearest person relevent to my location is several hundred miles away, and hasn't been back here, since leaving his few postings long ago, whereas citydata has numerous people right in my small town posting on a daily basis. I'm just kinda curious why this place doesn't seem to attract the people, and why are the regulars so snobby?

And, I gotta laugh. 45 people have looked at this thread, and no one has tried to explain, make excuses or even tell some lies. That's so weird!

I've not encountered any snobby people here, but I don't read the political forum so I don't know what it's like there.
I left city-data for precisely the same reason that you are asking about cityprofile. I found the people there both arrogant and self-centered yet pathetic and stupid at the same time. In fact, one of the moderators there really insulted me, and that was the last straw and I left. I've always thought cityprofile had much friendlier people.
I've mentioned this forum on other websites that I participate in (not geographical but simply other topics altogether) in the hopes that more would join up here.

Oh people no doubt suck all over, but I had another user account with this forum, that scarecly went into the political, and I still found people unfriendly. I'd send PMs to people and never get responses etc. Maybe it's just that there's infinitly more people at citydata, but I no doubt found things friendlier by a long shot, but I do agree that there is a moderator over there that is power hungry, but I've encoutered that here too, though the moderators in question have since left.

Yeah, and look at my pretty Lake Tahoe pictures. Aren't they cool?
Haven't seen them yet. I have a brother that owns a house on the lake. Nice area no doubt.

I was a member of city data before I became a member/moderator here. A mod over there banned me for a while for advertising because I mentioned that I was a carpet installer. I did not give a name or even mention what state I was from. But according to their mod, you can't even mention your occupation and I was responding to a post about installations. Stupid I thought.
This place has its moments. I agree that the political area here seems to get the most action (currently) but the other areas are slowly filling in. Yes, its a slow(ish) process but its happening.
