GP's wether is milder than Medford as well. Medford gets a bit hotter i the summer and colder in the winter.

Hmm negative, well at the age of 12 I went there for a family reunion, I got lost in the forest up around there somewhere. That is about the only negative thing I have to say, on the other hand since then I have always wanted to move out there.... Mabey not all of me made it back...

I posted a lengthy reply which got lost in cyber space.. too long to do it again
at the moment...

But GP is a fine place and far more cultured than Medford and not as pretentious as Ashland

Good weather, good restaurants ( none mentioned yet.. those mentioned are not on my personal list) close proximity to the coast to Crater and DSiamond lakes, to Eugene and
Portland

I'll regroup and post more later

GP shops I visit
The Kitchen Store...
Hart's Jewelers
Chet's Garden
Grange Coop
Wheeler Toyota, best dealer in town, new, used, parts, service (based on 25 yrs in the biz)
Les Schwab Tire
Dutch Bros coffee.. better than Starbucks and cheaper, locally owned
Alaska Style Barber...the real deal..
Grovers Plumbing and Electrical...

Restaurants
AJA (pronounced Asia) classy with an oriental twist
R'Haus.. homey, casual.. excellent Sunday Brunch
The Vine.. Mediterranean influence..excellent burgers ,small full bar..good wines and beer
Can't recommend a single Mexican restaurant but Si Casa Flores is adequate
Taprock, nice architecture, decent food and a view...rustic...

As to culture
Sat Morning farmers market
First Friday art walk
Rogue Theatre for live music...name brand entertainers.
Galleries, Museums, Historical Society

Best bank in town is Evergreen by a long long way.. only 2 foreclosures in a decades long history.. 4 star rated, 2 locations... supporters of art and culture, solid beautiful bank and they own the TAPROCK restaurant overlooking the Rogue River

Hell Gate Jet Boats.. especially the dinner tour...

Frequent art on the streets....including chalk art... sculpture...local artists...excellent

15 miles south to Applegate Valley and many fine vineyards and wineries.. my favorites are Rosella's and Schmidt... opposite ends of the scale on size and presentation, both excellent .. there are many others including Valley View, Fiasco, Troon.. etc

Lots of retirees here. The economy is such that the area has enough of them with fixed incomes that most businesses are still making a go of it. The attitude is better in GP than any place I have lived in my life so far. Very nice friendly people and to me that is what makes it perfect, besides not having to shovel snow anymore!!!
