Italian Restaurants in Portland

Looking for the kind of place that would do fish (sole, flounder) in a Francese style.
For some reason the Italian restaurants we have been to in this area do not seem to do a lot of fish.

Have you tried Alba Osteria on SW Capital? They're the best Italian in the state, in my opinion. A bit pricy, but WELL worth it!

not for long, they're closing at the end of this month.

EAT.DRINK.THINK.: I am officially bereft....

i would recommend:
Justa Pasta in NW for really good homey pasta dishes,
Nostrana in SE,
Lorenzo's in N pdx,
and D.O.C. in NE.

whatever you do, don't eat at Amalfi's. i can't understand why they are always busy. it was the worst "Italian" food i've ever eaten.

Thanks for the tips, looks like a good list to work from in the coming months. Except for Alba Osteria, of course, unless I can make it before they close.

Not an Italian restaurant but they do have some good pasta plates with seafood (during the season) as well as regular pasta, is Henrys Tavern in the pearl district.

In Vancouver, east of the 205 on Mill Plain try Little Italy's Trattoria. They do not have sole (but they may try if you suggest it).
Great food, great price, nice atmosphere (small but comfy)!

I like it anyway!!

My girlfriend's favorite restaurant is a place in Sellwood called Gino's. Not that we go there often, it's a "special occasion" kind of place. I plan to spend around $100 for two people for an appetizer, a couple entrees, desert, and a bottle of wine. It's awesome though.
