Reminds me of my youth on Lake Buchanan. My Grandparents had a house then my parents, but you could rip Bass out of the water left and right.

i do go fishing in the warm months too..not as often as i would like though. you know how it is - you either have time or money...never both at the same time.

Yes, I certainly did and I couldn't believe my eyes....I think they were "Asian Carp" and another species that was brought to this country.......

I found this video of them........just amazing and they have "hurt" many folks that are boating at the time........

Quote:
Mark Kirby pilots the boat as Brendan Kearns shoots
video of an enormous amount of Asian (Silver) Carp jumping
along the boat.

While Asian Carp are often seen in the wake of boats
traversing the river, this was a sight not reportedly
seen before.

This is a small clip from a turtle trapping video.
The asian carp work as good bait and its easy to fill the boat when they can fly.

Bet you don't hunt them on this "scale".......haven't seen this one before...

About Us

Directions
Quote:
Please don't rely on a gps to find us. The address given on this web site is a mailing address and is not the actual location of the trout farm.
Quote:
Directions:
From I-81, take exit 60 and turn east on Rt. 90 (Cedar Springs Road) toward Rural Retreat. The Sportsman's Lodge is 10 1/2 miles from the interstate. Drive through the town of Rural Retreat and continue for several miles.

Our first sign is located on the left side of the road at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and (you guessed it) Cedar Springs Road.

Cedar Springs Trout Farm, in Rural Retreat, VA, has been in operation since 1954.
We hatch and raise our own rainbow, brook, golden and brown trout. Our trout are healthy, delicious and firm-textured because they are raised in gravel-bottom raceways with flowing water and fed a high protein diet.
Come fish for a day, or stay in our Sportsman's Lodge. It's a great place for a scenic, secluded vacation. We also offer live pick up and delivery for stocking and fish by the pound.

One of my favorite fishing spots.
The building will clue you in to where it is and the ship moored at the pier is the Bounty which sank a few years ago..
