White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery has been raising and stocking fish for the American Public for over 100 years. Today, the hatchery raises rainbow trout eggs as part of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's National Broodstock Program. Over 10 million rainbow trout eggs are shipped annually to 20 different federal, state and tribal hatcheries as far north as Maine and as far west as New Mexico. The eggs are then hatched, raised and stocked in lakes and streams across thecountry. After the eggs are shipped, the hatchery provides over 13,000 retired rainbow trout to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians for stocking
Solo day trip to the Elk River in West Virginia on October 18th 2010. Did some fly fishing all day before catching any trout. Caught a couple average rainbows and saw some huge browns but didnt have any success with them. This was my first time on this river so I suspect to do better next time. Day was mostly clear with some overcast, had some pretty high winds from time to time which made casting difficult. Had a great time and hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching.
