I always loved going to French Creek when I was a kid. Haven't gone in probably 5-7 years but my parents still go and love it. Seems to be a great place to visit.

heck yeah french creek! I've camped there a few times. Once in the snow...froze all night and left at the exact break of dawn (just didn't want to be a wuss and leave before dawn). Also stayed there in the rain...I really need to start looking at the weather reports.

Only place I've been to in PA is the campground at Codorus. Nothing spectacular by any means, I'm used to backpacking in the Sierra's in CA.

The Outdoor world chains are pretty nice, but not really "camping" as much as just a nice place to hangout.

My 2 cents...

Ricketts Glen State Park has 22 named waterfalls in a scenic gorge with old growth timber.

On the west rim of Pine Creek Gorge, the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, the 368acre Colton Point State Park. The rugged overlooks offer great views of the canyon. On the other side of the canyon is Leonard Harrison State Park.
