This pump was working, I don't think they get much oil though....



This well is somewhat newer than Drake Well, the second pic is the steam engine that runs it.

These cables were running back and forth, teetering on the wood pole, running several pumps.



Drakes Well is a very interesting place to see, next year would be better though..........

I was at pithole last year and am amazed at how much more there is going on...
I am originally from Tionesta and my aunt was the 7th grade math teacher in Titusville. Any chance you went to school there?

My wife went to school here, I went to Townville(until they changed it to Maplewood)

My wife knows everybody, and she probably knows your aunt.

not too far from you is an old abandoned ghost town... i think it's called pit hole or something like that... not much there to see but it's all layed out with signs... just a cool little history place to check out...

I've been there several times, as you stated, not much there. I think they are closing the museum also....budget cuts.
