HUM that is not a Rare woodpecker nor is it endangered. That is a Red-bellied Woodpecker It ranges over almost all of the Eastern US.

There are only two species of woodpeckers I know of that are endangered one of which was thought to be extinct.

The Ivory Billed Woodpecker.
