Steve's Prince of Steaks is high up on my list. Can't say I have a favorite. Never been a big fan of Jim's though.
The Roxborough steak shops are all solid, but I prefer chubby's.
Funny thing about the "best cheesesteak" debate is that most of these places are good, if not great, so it's all about what you like or where you grew up going.

completely agree. Any decent place isn't going to make a bad steak.
It occurs to me that the best place to get a cheesesteak is the place where you know one of the cats workin' the grill. No matter how good the stuff is, if you know the guy makin' the sammy, you get the works. I virtually always go to one place (I live out in the sticks) even though there are two places closer 'cause I know my buddy is workin' the grill there. If I know he's not workin', the nearest joint will do.
