What are the most happening places to see *new* art in Pheonix?

some say scottsdale, but...
FIRST FRIDAYS in downtown phoenix are better. local, low rent artists with lots of love for their craft. plus, there are great street vendors, cool dive bars, and a non-pretentious art scene that is great for youngins.
