When I arrived in Oregon I found out about a statue in Portland. We call him rain man and I lived here 4 years before seeing anyone else with an umbrella.

This coming week is a good example of OR Winter Weather. Rain the next 5 days with the possibility of heavy rain one of those days. This is a La Nina year so we expected a few heavy rains but no one feels limited by it.

On arrival here in 2000 I drove down the West flank of the Cascades into Eugene in a light rain. A boy was delivering newspapers (cap, no hoodie), a man was mowing his grass and no one in sight wore raingear or had an umbrella.

It's common to see people in shorts and sandals any month of the year.

Because it's a complete fabrication.

SB1070 was a ploy to mobilize voters, and it worked, now it'll sit on the back burner until 2012 when they need to motivate people again.

the solution was easy. On cold dampish days I wear a long sleeve tshirt under a shirt with a sweater on top. The dead air spaces between garments work great.
I'll also wear long legged thermal underwear on the few bitter days. socks are heavy inside my boots.

hey, it's December 8th and I had heat on in my bedroom for 4 days. i actually only heat my bedroom and that for less than 2 weeks each year,

Sure isn't Fargo here.

Hah WOW.

Yeah, a ploy. Because it's ridiculous for a voter to just naturally be worried about the most drug and corruption-filled country in the world pouring immigrants over our borders - it'd have to an election year for us to notice, right?

And the numbers are there to back up Phoenix's kidnappings... what else do you want? Do you want me to go take pictures of all the people that were kidnapped?

Sadly very few but a boom is on the horizon. The spotted owl is now being outcompeted by another owl that migrated West. I expect a return to heavy (but scientific) logging. The Bend area was in a huge growth trend before the recession. Retirees and Californians love that area. We just need to get the money loose again.

Almost mid December and I'm comfy with 50 degree days and 40 degree nights.
