reddington pass 4/17/11

we're gonna take a short trip out to three feathers to test out a newly acquired 84 4runner if anyone wanted to go out and have a little fun.

ChrisNukemYJ 04-14-2011 08:57 AM

I that all your doing? I will go screw around at three feathers for a couple hours.

catfish 04-14-2011 11:42 AM

me too if I don't go to Ajax....

flip-flopper? didn't you just post you are in? ;p

when are you meeting up for three feathers? i MIGHT put off de-rusting and rattle canning my rock rash again (was my plan for this sunday)

SoAZ4x4ZJ 04-14-2011 12:54 PM

its up in the air now, apparently the rig we are supposed to be testing out may not be ready. I'm all hyped up already so I still wanna go, what time works for everyone here?

that was last night after several beers, then I stayed up late watching videos of carnage up there.....the term bypass sounds medical in this case.

shall I be the one to test your lockers are overated theory? I am pretty sure rock rails are not.

Two things in the Wells book are putting me off. "Upper Ajax - If your looking for trouble" and "bring spare parts"

oh, just relooked at the wells map after you said that. the upper part is at the very end of the regular part. so i've seen none of that yet. jim and i turned around on regular ajax.

ride with jim on saturday, greg (younger) is riding with me.

i still think the videos of the upper part that i found on youtube don't look all that bad, the spotting seemed for the most part horrible and skinny pedal control from the drivers questionable. (they probably use the same foot for skinny and fat pedal :dunno:)

rubicondevil07 04-14-2011 02:46 PM

Wells probably didn't even run that trail. Rumor has it that he had other people run trails for him to write the book. Ride along and see for yourself. Won't be your junk getting bashed in.

catfish 04-14-2011 04:03 PM

Thanks a lot guys...yea those buggies and the nissan were heavy on the skinny....my left foot is mostly for sticking in my mouth and dragging shackles...I'll let ya know tomarrow on the original thread but if I aint there on time don't wait

rubicondevil07 04-14-2011 04:16 PM

Oh don't worry we won't.

After the rug road run debacle waiting on certain people it gets old. If you can't be there on time of departure then leave earlier or don't show up. But don't make everyone wait on you. Ok rant over.

randyd 04-14-2011 06:30 PM

If ya get stuck, call....

catfish 04-16-2011 08:50 AM

anyone still wanna play at three feathers on sunday around 10?

SoAZ4x4ZJ 04-16-2011 12:15 PM

I'm still in, me and one other rig, we're going to meet at the circle k around 9ish. if you are going to sleep in, we'll still be at three feathers till maybe around 1-2p

catfish 04-16-2011 05:40 PM

Great unless something strange happens I'll see you on the rocks mid morning. I'll be the one stuck at the bottom in the green heap....

skivviss 04-16-2011 09:40 PM

didn't break anything on ajax, so i'll be heading out there to play on three feathers. will try to get to circle k at 9, if not will catch up at three feathers soon after.

need some extra tequila tonight to calm my nerves. :tinfoil:

The wife and I will be there, but I'm not going past three feathers, I still have to do stuff in the afternoon.

SoAZ4x4ZJ 04-16-2011 10:06 PM

yeah we arent going past three feathers either. we are actually gonna head out even earlier so Luke can come along, i think we'll be heading out closer to 8a now.

SoAZ4x4ZJ 04-16-2011 10:09 PM

thanks for the assistance Rob, going up that was little more nerve racking after watching the yota roll. But I had to do it. had to "get back on the horse"

skivviss 04-17-2011 03:17 PM

heh, was only a slight 'tug' is all i gave.

hopefully they got some great shots of you near vertical :D

Wow that's pretty crazy, it just flipped out of nowhere, didn't really look like it was gonna go until it was too late.

Glad everyone's ok

SeanMcGuireXJ 04-18-2011 09:09 PM

That was actually worse than I imagined it!

p-saurus 04-18-2011 09:45 PM

That sucks. :( That was a really nice rig.

SoAZ4x4ZJ 04-18-2011 10:14 PM

The damage isn't too bad considering. Justin is a painter, and the other Justin shown running out of the way of the roll is a bodyman. he has all the spare panels necessary to fix. A donor Core support is all that is needed.

cages are in the near future for all of us. It happened so quickly, and unexpectedly.

oh.. and im NEVER doing a manual transmission conversion :D

ChrisNukemYJ 04-18-2011 10:47 PM

Whats wrong with a manual? Except for the whole working the clutch while your bouncing around, and trying to shift while you need both hands to steer thing....

randyd 04-18-2011 11:30 PM

Why in the world fix the sheet metal? It now looks more interesting..

It wouldnt be so bad if you had an extra foot.

but if i had a manual i would get one of these

ChrisNukemYJ 04-19-2011 02:21 AM

Yeah that would be pretty sweet. I normally will drive only manuals but whenever I can afford to get a second Jeep I'm thinking it's going to be auto. Give myself a brake for once.

randyd 04-19-2011 08:33 AM

You'll never go back to a manual again!!
