If you are looking for some good burgers/barbecue I would also recommend finding a Cookout restaurant. They are all over the Raleigh and are incredibly wallet-friendly. As the name would imply, they offer a wide variety of cook out style food as well as a huge list of some of the creamiest milkshakes I have ever had.

I'm a big fan of Armadillo Grill in both Chapel Hill & Raleigh. Also check out Chubby's Tacos. Their burritos are the size of you head!

Mura @ North Hills has some great sushi.

if you can afford it, go to The Melting Pot for some fantastic fondue. They bring out large platters of basically any meat you can think of with 20 different sauces.. its one of the best places in raleihg.

Back in 91

I am dating myself.. It's been a while since I graduated from State (91) and I went back a few times as recent as 93'. My favorite places in rank

Angus Barn - Best steak and scene of my most awsome graduation dinner!)
CharGrill - It's like Mom and Apple Pie
Amedios - Best Italian and Pizza and Jimmy V's hangout
Two Guys - Good family Italian food and close to campus
Darryls - I still don't know if this is a chain or not - like Ruby Tuesday's
Mitch's Tavern - Sandwiches were great - Pretzels with mustard !
42nd Street Oyster Bar - Wasted my money on a date there once
Waffle House - No seriously -- I loved Waffle House at 2 AM
