If you want really good Mexican, you should checkout:

1. Dos Taquitos (Dos Taquitos - Mexican Restaurant - 919.787.3373) at Milbrook and Creedmore

2. El Rodeo Grill (El Rodeo Grill : Raleigh Mexican Restaurant, Margarita, Raleigh Fresh Mexican Food, Sports Bar Raleigh) at Six Forks and SawMill

These two have become my favorite Mexican places in town.

If you are ever in the Kitty Hawk area try The Black Pelican. Great seafood.

Noble Meats

There's a tiny butcher shop just north of Ft Bragg/Springlake on HWY 210 called Noble Meats. They also serve GREAT lunches, the pulled pork and their rib plate are damn good! You've got to try their New Potatos, also!!

Very friendly staff and it's a very small place, Bill the owner is almost always there working the counter/register. go there twice and he'll know your name and face and greet you with a smile when you come in the door.

Good people, GREAT food!

In the RTP area (on Hwy 55) there is a cajun restaurant, Papa Mojo's Roadhouse. You will not more authentic cajun cuisine anywhere in the area.
