What are your property taxes?

Yet another year of tax increases for us. Also they increased our assessed value which I tried to contest but they rejected.

Assessed Value: $143,710
Total Taxes: $3376.32

That seems pretty high to me. My assessment was ~$400k, and just paid ~$3500 in property taxes. what did the fine print say about how much you were paying for city, school, and other fees attached to your property taxes?

Yikes, I feel better about paying $4,000/year, our house is assessed about 3 times as high. People moving here from Texas are shocked at the home prices.
I think you are still coming out ahead, though, if you figure your taxes are a little less than mine but your house payment is a LOT less.

Mine is about $8800/yr with a tax assessment around $200k. The joys of living in NY.

I always thought WA was high and feel much better now. Plus we have no state income tax.

Assessed: $437,000
Taxes: $4,202 (down a bit from 2009)

Keith, I agree your taxes are high. In my area it's about half of that I'd say.

Fortunately my house is under assessed. Last summer my county sent me a form to fill out on any improvements I made since buying it new about ten years ago. I forgot to send it back in.

^My gosh! That is over $1,000 a month! I've heard that about NY. Do you have super nice streets and private schools for all the kids or something? That really is shocking.
