Yeah, when you see the sign that says, last US exit, it's time to get off quick!!!

East Chula Vista is nice, Otay Ranch and Eastlake but most people like to stay north of the 8. Check out the police department websites, they usually keep those stats.

In today's newspaper, there was a one sentence story about one of the Mexican Cartel burst into a drug rehab facility in Tijuana and slaughtered 15 patients! When is this crap going to stop?

For the most part there are a lot of nice places in San Diego and there are also a few not so nice areas.

If you could tell us where you're going to be working it would help a lot in helping you pick a place to live.

If you're looking in Craigslist, beware that there are a LOT of housing scams on there. I've spent the last month looking on CL to get an idea what places cost as I'll be moving soon and the scams are easy for me to spot, but I've been here 30+ years.

Give us some more info and we'll keep helping

If you are care for good school districts look into those areas in the Poway Unified school district or San Deguito school district. Of course the mortgages in those locations is higher as well. Pretty much a pay for what you get type situation. Higher rent = safer area and better schools and more responsible neighbors generally speaking. Not to say there aren't many pockets of nice places in San Diego, but that is a good general direction. Additionally, if your kids are not doing well in school, moving to a "good school" doesn't fix the kid.........seriously.... seek help to fix a kid a school district won't help you with that half as much as you helping yourself. Putting poison in milk doesn't help the poison anything like the poison destroying the milk. Broken product goes back to the manufacturer for fixing, not taking it to the nearest competitors store. Good luck out there to ya and feel free to PM if more help is needed.

When they finish eachother off pretty much seems the only hope. As long as we keep voting in the spineless, re-election is all that matters, tax and give to degenerate, politicians, it can only get worse. It's unfortunate that there are more seeking a handout voting in the handouters, and it CAN continue until they finish eating the completely broke. Then it will still be someone else's responsibility.

I tend to agree with the rule of thumb that south of the 8 is less safe than north of the 8. However, there have been a lot of nice housing areas springing up in CHula Vista and Eastlake.
