Can't argue with that. I've picked my share of abalone from the San Diego coast line back in the early 80's. They have almost been wiped out.
I'm not a save the ?????? advocate but there are plenty of other beaches to take your children to.

The Native American almost got wiped out, then white man gave him land. Now look at them, thriving and prosperous.
The Seals have their little chunk of real estate and when they thrive and their numbers increase I don't think they will be opening any casinos.
time to add them to the menu

What they say about seals being a hazard is correct. Seals are the pigeons of the ocean; why create needless safety and health hazards?

It has nothing to do with sustainable fishing/hunting. that's important, but a whole nother ballgame

Seals and Sea Lions have learned to go 120 miles up the Columbia to take trout & salmon near the fish ladder at Bonneville Dam. Authorities have harassed them with guns and fireworks but the seals like the free lunch. They say they will prune habitual offenders but not much happens.

On the coast the seals generate tourist dollars. Seals & sea lions have friends in Newport & Lincoln City.

Since the California brown pelicans all moved to Oregon because of global warming it's possible SD is seeing Baja and other Mexican seals.

Not sure about CA but the seals we see in Oregon are not shark sized snack foods.

release the SD Zoo polar bears
