Got fat eating pizza at Portico's 1st and Mission. The crust is a really nice chewy sourdough style when it first comes out of the oven. It can get a little dry after they warm up a slice for you though. Rocco's in Walnut Creek is pretty good too.
Well, I grew up here, but lived in New York for almost 10 years. And after coming back, I must say, I still (in 5+ years) haven't found really good pizza. Zachary's is fine, Little Star is decent. But honestly, any ganky pizza place on the corner in NYC would blow 90% of SF pizza out of the water. Not trying to be argumentative, just calling it like it is. I'd say the same thing about burritos in New York.
Whose got the best pizza in the Bay area? I moved here a few months ago and have yet to try anything exceptional.
Gay 90's in Pleasanton is my favorite. I have taken many out of state business guests to Gay 90's over the past 15 years or so, and they always love it too, so it's not just me! Many have said it is the best pizza they have eaten. I recently had a return-guest visiting whom I had taken there several years ago, and he asked me if we could go to that pizza place again.
