Marathon Advice

I am running (I hope) the SF Marathon in July. I have done it once before. I am going to be coming into town the Friday before the run.

Last time, I stayed at one of the mega hotels off Market Street (Westin I think).

Anyway, the fact that I can't remember the hotel's name tells you a lot about my impression of it. I would love to get some suggestions of fun/cool hotels within a half mile or so of the start line (Embarcadero and Market -Ferry Building).

Any suggestions?
